If there's a unity in sentiment

than it hasn't been discovered. To remember something long afterwards without the hot blood ringing in the ears is a small step forwards in a long stream of being. It is beautiful to remember pastel colors long after the sun sets, to savor the snowcone when the red dyed lip is all that remains. It is beautiful to love the pet rabbit for the hairs left on the pillowcase, for the sound that doesn't echo down the hallway when you depress the light switch. If there's a unity in sentiment in language after you have driven off into a cold cold morning, if there's a place on the page to be discovered that can replace body heat or small talk, than it is the most beautiful space, the most beautiful sentence. Inquiring into the status of LED lights, of the possibility of electrons in a freeze, of remaining evanescent without excitement, of emitting some haze, these are the semantic blueprints we should build by, the prints in the sand towards our crystal palaces by the sea. The starfish understands this quest, the sea dragon is of a kind. This is the fifth day of February and it is eighteen degrees outside.

an infinite return

out of those obvious window treatments, out of summer’s windup drought, out of this sensation so fleeting and tiered around me sharing an architecture with that black balloon, come to me, wrapped in dull midnight, wearing that face of dried anise and dusk. those fleeting satellites overhead are no matter, the last trails the garter snake left in the grass portend only the infinite duration between blindness or solitude, chastity and suffering. alive in this hemisphere of trash bags, blind as grief's apologies, to forbear is one attitude, rising in an infinite return another.
